There Oughta Be A Law...
(See Link Above) Note: In the following rant, I am being "semi" sarcastic.
I think the most productive Legislature we could ever have would be one that did NOT do a damn thing all year... An even better one would NOT write any new laws, but would begin REPEALING as many as it could get its hands on.
Better yet, we could just wipe out ALL the laws and start fresh. After getting Thou Shall Not Kill, Steal, Kidnap, Rape, etc. out of the way, how about we pass the following law in every State in the Union:
"Any government agent, while in the official capacity of his office, that knowingly and willingly violates his oath of office, the Constitution of his State, or the Constitution of the United States, is guilty of a Felony and shall face a fine of no less than $1000 and no more than $5000, AS WELL AS no less than 1 and no more than 5 years in prison."
...maybe after a second, possibly third, conviction for a similar offense, they should just be publicly hung; their body displayed for no less than a week before being cut down, burned, and the ashes put in an urn and given as a gift and a warning to their successor.
I have a feeling that would give the "powers that be" a much needed attitude adjustment.
We could kick the new law off with a National Holiday ("Usurper's Day")... I'll write the first holiday song:
545 bodies swinging in the wind.
"They're for us" they did pretend.
Now their lies have come to an end,
Hanging from a rope is the new trend
545 bodies dancing with the wind.
Each holiday the people could take to the streets with their choice of "a hangman's noose and a gun", "torches and pitchforks", or "tar and feathers", and as they march, they could sing the holiday song. The march could end at the office of our local Representative, and he could join in the festivities... giving speeches, answering to the people, reading the Constitution, reviewing Natural Law and Natural Rights, reinforcing his oath of office... stuff like that. We could end the festivities with a Barbecue and a hanging, shooting, stabbing, tarring, feathering, and then burning of a Tyrant in effigy... It would be fun for the whole family.
Ah yes, a nice yearly reminder of who serves who... and the consequences of forgetting it.
