Conservatives UNITE!!!

I did not post last week, and for that I apologize. I normally try and post at least once a week nowadays, and trust me… it is not a lack of desire or subject matter that kept me from posting last week. Allow me to explain…

We always hear from our elders that the world is going to “hell in a hand basket” with each and every coming of a new generation, and to some degree I understand where they were coming from. The problem is our country truly is disintegrating right before our eyes. While some may contend that I am simply saying this because at the ripe young age of 41 I have nestled into this thing called middle-age, but the reality of it is this. We are seeing a severe, almost exponential increase in violent crime, crimes against children, disregard for our fellow man, loss of morality, hedonism, political correctness, racism, loss of freedom, social uprisings, and twisting of the Constitution… and that was just last week!!!

America has lost her way, and we as Conservatives must lead the way in restoring her to shimmering glory. I have spent the last couple of months really hammering away at my representatives, third parties, the Republican Party, my friends and neighbors, my coworkers, and various projects, all in an effort to try and rally them to ACTUALLY ACCOMPLISH SOMETHING!!!

It seems everywhere I turn, I run into a brick wall. The Republican Party keeps telling me they know how I feel, and would be more than happy to accept another donation to help them continue to ignore my screams. My representatives keep sending me the same form letters telling me they know how I feel, and that they are diligently working on plans that have nothing to do with what I am screaming about. My friends and neighbors all tell me they know how I feel, and that I am right, and that they’ll be more than happy to write to the Republican Party and their representatives to let them know how they feel. I have been in contact with the America First Party; they assure me they know how I feel because they feel the same way and are running into the same brick walls. My various projects have all centered on trying to be heard and doing the hard work for all of the various people that know how I feel but really don’t seem to give a flip.

I NEED YOUR HELP!!! Every Conservative person out there in the entire UNITED STATES OF AMERICA I am CALLING ON YOU!!! I don’t give a crap what flavor of Conservative you are, we all hold very similar (if not the same) core values… we simply squabble over semantics, process, and the Iraq War! Our Country is at stake here! I say that if you believe in the following, we can ALL WORK TOGETHER to actually get something done.

  1. The Constitution is NOT a living document, but a LEGAL document that is the foundation of our entire Republic.
  2. We need to return to the Constitutional foundation that the forefathers envisioned. Government by the people for the people.
  3. An overhaul of ballot access to allow for the citizen statesmen the forefathers intended. The two party stranglehold has to go!!!
  4. We need a small central government, not the Godzilla that the federal government has grown into.
  5. We need to return more power to the States.
  6. We need to protect all Human life from the womb to natural death.
  7. We need to embrace Judeo-Christian values and take the parenting of our children away from the government and return it to the parent.
  8. Promote the family through a parental bill of rights.
  9. We need fiscal responsibility, including repealing the 16th amendment to the constitution (right to collect income tax) with a complete overhaul of the tax system, the budget, and a complete obliteration of entitlements and pork.
  10. Overhaul education, and put it back into the hands of parents.
  11. Make English the official language of the United States, and get tough as nails on immigration.
  12. Appoint judges that will strictly adhere to the Constitution and not legislate from the bench.
  13. Preserve American sovereignty from foreign entanglements and mandates.
  14. The right to vote “NO” on any election should be guaranteed so that candidates are not thrust upon us and unopposed candidates are not guaranteed victory.
  15. Overhaul eminent domain and preserve the property of the citizenry.
  16. To insure there will be no affirmative action, thought crime, or hate crime laws.
  17. To have lawmakers make every reasonable effort to write laws that are lucid, concise, and easily understandable. We need to get away from these mammoth, unabridged dictionary thick codes, regulations, laws, and ordinances.
  18. To refrain from legislative indulgence, and only create laws when absolutely necessary, remembering the goal and purpose of the government as outlined in the Constitution.
  19. To stop the stampede against religion and remember that the Constitution only states there will be no “official” religion, not that religion cannot exist in the public forum; the terms “Separation of Church and State” do not exist within the Constitution.
  20. That we need to be proactive in insuring our representation ACTUALY represents us.

Okay, now that you have read the list and agree that we actually do share similar values, you may be wondering what you can do to help. That is actually easier than you think WHEN we are working together. Remember, a single voice has a harder time filling a hall than a choir. If we all work together, I know for a fact we can actually make a change. We have to all agree, set our petty differences aside, and do the following:

  1. Write your state legislators, your congressman, and your senator… tell them you are pissed and you are not going to take it anymore. If they give you some form letter or blow you off, tell them that you DEMAND that they straighten up their act or you WILL diligently work to have them removed from office. Remind them that they work for you, not the other way around.
  2. VOTE for the Conservative candidate regardless of his party affiliation. If there are no Conservatives running, until we get the “NO” vote, you will have to bite your lip and vote for the candidate that will better support your values. If you don’t VOTE, that mean a bunch of meatheads get to make the choice instead of you.
  3. If a candidate does not do his very best to keep his promises, VOTE HIM OUT!!!
  4. Write or call the local papers, radio stations, TV stations, and bloggers and let them know exactly how you feel.
  5. On Monday May 1st spend as much money as you can. Go to as many stores, restaurants, etc. as you can afford. This will send a nice signal to the ILLEGALS that they are not wanted or needed.
  6. Stage polite, well organized, and civilized counter-protests wherever some lunatic liberals are staging their protests. Try to find the estimate of the amount of liberal protesters set to attend, and try to double that number. Call your friends, neighbors, coworkers, and your ex-wife, whatever you have to do. Get them there if for nothing more, than to laugh at the liberals.
  7. Talk to everyone you know about the issues at hand... get them fired up to help you!!!
  8. Stay unified… even if we defeat the liberals. We cannot forget our unity. Together we stand, divided we fall.

I’ll see you at the front!

The Conservative Split on the War in Iraq

There is one area in which even Conservatives cannot agree, and that is on the War in Iraq. There are elements in the Conservative Movement that justifiably have an isolationist attitude, and there are others that have a “reverse domino effect” mentality. Some Conservatives are Hawks who want to take a “pre-emptive” approach to world affairs, while other Conservatives are Hawks who prefer a “remain neutral until they give us a reason” approach.

Being a Conservative, I understand both arguments, and to be honest, both arguments are compelling. The way I see this whole “War on Terror” issue, as well as the “War in Iraq”, is like this…

In 1991 Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait. The Kuwaiti government fled, and the people were subjected to the horrors Saddam Hussein is notorious for. The Kuwaitis asked for our assistance in ejecting Saddam from their country, and like good neighbors, we complied. Once Saddam Hussein was ejected from Kuwait, we set forth a “Cease Fire Agreement” with a list of rules as to the terms of the cease fire; and then we sectioned him off in the hopes of keeping him at bay, causing an uprising of the people, and limiting his military capacity.

Over the next 12 years, Saddam Hussein fired upon our aircraft and broke almost every single term of the Cease Fire Agreement.

Fast forward to September 11th, 2001; Al Qaeda attacks the United States of America. We discover that the Taliban rule of Afghanistan is a haven for Al Qaeda and refuses to cooperate. The United States gives the Taliban an ultimatum… break up the terror training and safe haven, and turn over Osama Bin Laden or face the wrath of the US. Furthermore, the President, backed by almost every American, makes the proclamation that ANY nation that harbors terrorists (particularly Al Qaeda) is our enemy. This is where things go awry.

We soon invade Afghanistan and topple the Taliban and destroy much of Al Qaeda; however, Osama Bin Laden and many other leaders manage to elude us. We then spend a considerable amount of time, blood, and effort in rebuilding Afghanistan and setting up a new democratic government.

During the time of rebuilding, we make many mistakes. We rely too heavily on the Afghanis to find Osama Bin Laden instead of scouring the mountains for him ourselves. We set up a government in Afghanistan based upon our view of how things should be, instead of understanding the mindset, tradition, and beliefs of the Afghan people. We allow terrorists to slip through our fingers, forming cells in other lands. Our military victory was tarnished.

We then look to Saddam Hussein once again. We do see the connection of Abu Musab Al Zarqawi to Saddam’s regime. We again focus on Saddam as an agent of evil. We look at every resolution that he has broken. We look at the fact that he constantly fires on our planes. We look to the fact that he has broken almost every term of the Cease Fire Agreement. We then decide to give him an ultimatum; either comply with the UN Inspectors, and abide by the Cease Fire Agreement, or we will take you out. He failed to comply and so we invaded Iraq. This is where we make the next set of mistakes.

At this point of the story is where most Conservatives split. Some would say that it was a mistake to attack Iraq, period. Others will say it was a mistake to attack Iraq before we finished in Afghanistan; while yet another group will say we did the right thing… though some mistakes were made.

I believe that we were right to invade Afghanistan; however, I believe we should have put our forces to work scouring the countryside until we found Osama Bin Laden before we took ANY other action. Once Osama Bin Laden and Afghanistan’s Al Qaeda had been killed or captured, then we could work toward other goals.

I believe we were right to invade Iraq. You can remove WMD’s as a reason, and I still believe we should have done it. Here is why… Saddam Hussein DID have association with Abu Musab Al Zarqawi; DID give him safe haven; DID plot against the United States of America; DID fire upon our planes; and DID break most every term of the Cease Fire Agreement. Keep in mind, the Gulf War never officially ended; a cease fire was put in place, with hostilities to resume if the terms were broken.

I do believe that serious mistakes were made in the execution of the War in Iraq, and I do believe that we seriously underestimated the difficulty in “bringing democracy” to Iraq. I think the time has come for us to, within a reasonable amount of time, hand everything over to the Iraqi people and withdraw our troops from Iraq.

I do not believe that the United States of America should be the world police; nor do I believe we should be the world liberators. Our conflict in Afghanistan was directly related to an attack on our country. I believe (and yes, others will argue the point) that our conflict in Iraq was justified SOLELY on the basis of Saddam attacking our planes, aiding Zarqawi, and breaking the terms of the Cease Fire Agreement. As far as I am concerned, our war is with Al Queda, and Osama Bin Laden is still out there. We need to be looking for him, and we should not rest until he is captured or killed.

There is, however, another issue brewing… what to do with Iran, if anything?
